A young woman, going Hawking with a small griffin.

Take Flight

This one is my friend Jill, and her friend. It won First Place in the Judged Awards Professional Category at the First Occasional Lone Star Science Fiction and Chili Cook-Off Art show in 1985, the year I drew it. (That was the American Science Fiction Convention, or NASFIC that year, by the way.) You can see a detail of Jill or the Kitty Hawk by clicking on the links. Or you can return to the full image.

The idea came to me when we were all sitting around way too late at night in Tay & Jim's apartment, talking and laughing. Tay had a stuffed griffin, and one thing led to another, and the picture just had to be done. <g>

Original in Prismacolor Pencil on Canson MiTentes paper, roughly 8X10 inches.
